We have three urban design strategies:
Scheme I- Each road subdivides the community into little villages.
Scheme I- Each road subdivides the community into little villages.
Scheme II - A main road would allow access to the community, then paths would take you to each housing.
Scheme III- Streets divide the site into blocks then each block is subdivided into lots, organizing the spaces for urban housing and community spaces.
we are taking in consideration to further develop Scheme III due that we are required to develop a master plan for an urban community that can be applied to other similar urban sites. In Scheme III the street layout is more likely suitable for a urban community development that has to follow building codes, while scheme I & II are more like a village type.
Scheme III is similar to a very typical suburban housing development layout. The houses all look the same, with that long road (right to left) very monotonous. The "village" type are much more appealing - but I understand why they cannot so easily build it and reproduce it. But is that bad? If Scheme III is the one - then try to layout the housing so that the views from one house to the next are kept private. - staggered, rotated, mirrored. Look at alternatives for this approach. Maybe that long band of housing is broken with community open space.
ReplyDeleteWe have updated the masterplan according to code regulations of BP 220 from the philippines. We gathered all 3 schemes and merged them into the updated masterplan. Our areas are more distributed and provide more flow for circulation and different activities in the community. Please comment on the updated masterplan.
